WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (September 28, 2021) – Midwest Growth Partners (MGP), a Food, Ag, and Manufacturing focused private equity fund manager with offices in West Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska announces the close of an investment in Superior Metals Products, Inc. (SMP) based in Omaha, Nebraska. SMP will join Van Becelaere Machine Works (VB) based in Pittsburg, Kansas as part of a precision machining platform supported by MGP. Randy Endorf and Frank O’Connor from SMP will join Vince Van Becelaere and Joel Van Becelaere of VB as partners with MGP respectively and will continue to lead day-to-day operations of the business.
SMP, founded in 1971, is an ISO 9001 certified precision machining business currently serving the agriculture, industrial and construction industries. Differentiated with a wide array of manufacturing capabilities, SMP is a logical partner for companies requiring simple to complex complete machined components and assemblies.
“This transaction represents MGP’s ongoing commitment to grow the precision machining platform, both organically and via acquisition. The combination of SMP and VB represents over 100 years of continuous operation, and the capabilities and capacity afforded to each organization’s longstanding customer base is unmatched in the market” said Mike Taylor, partner at MGP.
“We are pleased to begin the process of integrating VB and SMP, realizing the benefits that each company brings to one another, and ultimately to our collective customers,” said Vince Van Becealeare, President of VB. “This transaction accelerates our growth, expands our presence in the Midwest and significantly broadens our machining capability and capacity.”
“We are thrilled to join VB. Frank and I are confident the combination of our businesses creates a platform to best serve our customers and our employees going forward,” said Randy Endorf, President of SMP. “I’m excited to partner with this team as I remain personally invested in this business going forward.”
