Introducing MACH: Industry Leader in Off Highway Autonomy
Providing Solutions Driven by the Speed of Innovation
December 13, 2022 – Ames, IA — Officially launched today is MACH, the technology company that provides foundational software and hardware for OEM customers seeking the highest levels of off-road autonomy.
MACH is formed through the merger and acquisition of LSA Autonomy (LSA) and Redshield Electronics (Redshield) with Colin Hurd joining to serve as CEO and Midwest Growth Partners providing financial backing. MACH is a new powerhouse of proven, high-quality technologies serving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Specializing in the machinery and equipment industries, MACH allows for the seamless integration of state-of-the-art self-driving systems.
MACH’s foundation began more than 10 years ago when LSA was originally established to address autonomy needs across multiple U.S. government sectors. These needs spanned autonomous perimeter security vehicles and road-side hazard detection for the U.S Army, and optionally manned hydrographic survey launches for the U.S. Navy and NOAA. Shortly afterwards they also began providing commercial autonomy to OEMs in the high value crops space, including collaboration with GUSS, the Global Unmanned Spray System. Their autonomous applications have been deployed across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and within Africa and Australia.
Redshield, led by Rhett Shildroth who joins MACH as CTO, has provided software, hardware, machine learning and vision, as well as rate control and autonomy to OEMs in multiple sectors, including the agricultural and industrial machinery space. Bringing the diverse capabilities and the technical accomplishments of these industry leaders together creates a tangible and immediate value to customers looking to differentiate themselves and disrupt the status quo.
MACH’s wide range of products and expertise includes perception, obstacle detection and avoidance, visual guidance and computer vision, sensor fusion, on board navigation, path planning, machine to cloud communication, platforms for site management, and more. Central to MACH’s value driven approach is allowing for product customization which empowers manufacturers with solutions that fit their unique needs over time. The strategic process by which MACH achieves a distinct advantage through automation is rooted in a rich history of delivering prompt results. MACH serves customers’ needs regardless of their current stage in the process of automation. Whether they are seeking fully driverless systems, or basic rate control as the first step towards more advanced autonomy, MACH provides a rapid technology integration for OEMs.
“MACH’s goal is to deliver high-quality, value-creating solutions for our customers through a realistic and informed understanding of technology, mechanics and the needs being addressed” said Colin Hurd, CEO of MACH. “We seek to make the seemingly complex effort of embracing autonomy straightforward through a transparent and open process to incorporate, customize and use our products while building on the legacy of LSA and Redshield which has always allowed their customer’s success to outshine their own.”
